The Jumps™ - December

I have been thinking about ways to improve on the content of my blog for this upcoming year. As a result I thought it would be good to start a few series that I can continually post to. The first of which is going to be a monthly collection of interesting links about design and web development from all over the interweb. They will be know from here on out as The Jumps™ and you can expect them to drop the last week of every month (I also wanted a reason to start using the trademark (™) UTF character… dorky isn’t it?).

Here are The Jumps™ for December 2008.

  • The making of the Obama Logo/Mark Part One and Two - Everyone should watch these. He is the future president and one thing is for sure… he had the best political branding in the world (or history for that matter).
  • Collabfinder.com - The folks at BoyGirlTalk.com started this and I think it’s awesome. This is my favorite new social network, hands down.
  • DAYTUM - This is an amazing social network/blog/stat tracker where you can literally track any sort of daily data.I stumbled onto it from some one else’s blog and immediately fell in love with. You can literally track anything you want and display in almost any data form imaginable… and the best part is it’s interface is beautiful! DAYTUM is still in beta but I requested an invite last week and got in about 7 days later.
  • Feltron Annual Reports 2005, 2006 and 2007 - The Personal Annual Reports of Nicholas Feltron (he is one of the creators of DAYTUM) is beautiful and worth looking at.
  • www.undrln.com - This is the digg dot com for designers. It’s as simple as that. Wroth your time for sure.
  • Animated Clock - This is the most amazing clock I have ever seen. This was built by Colt Tanner Lloyd Woodford who blogs over at www.fillslashstroke.com which is another amazing design blog.
  • Making Modular Layout Systems - This is another great article from the 24ways.com Advent blog. Jason Santa Maria (who just happens to have one of the best blogs I have seen in a long time… and he uses EE!) talks through the inner workings of the framework he built his current site on. It’s short, but it is a strong case study.
